in my server we just finished building all the infrastructure.... like city walls and such ... i want users to be able to build inside .... is their a way to just guard the city walls only?

Two regions. One goes around the walls. One goes just inside the walls. Give the smaller one a higher priority (eg. /rg priority smallregion 100) and add the appropriate group to the members of that region (eg. /rg addmember smallregion g:default). Make sure you have the group.groupname node in the permissions for the appropriate group.

I have a question on preventing greifing on certain areas that you want protected. I read on the wiki that all you needed to do was "/region define <id> [<owner1> [<owner2> [<owners...>]]]". However, when I get it set up, people are still able to build and destroy blocks in that region. Is there anything else needed because I also see other people having this issue on the bukkit forums for world guard.

Here is an example of something else I tried. The person state to us this "/region flag >regionID< build deny", but that has given me the same result, even though the worldguard wiki states "DON'T TOUCH THIS FLAG. Everything will work normally without changing this flag."

how do you create the "group.groupname" node in the permissions i have PEX (permissions Ex) would it be like group.Default?

Anything giving you errors in the logs? Who are the region owners/members? Is there a parent region? And yes, you SHOULDN'T use the build flag unless you know what you're doing. Clear them all, even the __global__ region build flag.

I am a MOD for a server that we are building so I guess I don't see any error logs.. Where would that be so I can tell the person hosting the server what to look for??

With the region owners and members, I would switch myself and somebody else to see if we could destroy a building.. We were both able to add and remove blocks when I removed myself as the owner and himself too. So in theory, if I remove myself as an owner/member of a region, I shouldn't be able to remove or add block in that region; correct?

Lastly, It is just one region I did as a test, so there aren't any parent regions.

Unless you're a moderator with bypass worldguard permissions. You might not have the permissions setup correctly.
